Week 06 - Jony Yoon - Project 02 Thumbnails + Blog Post

 

WARNING: Just in case, I’d like to say that I don’t really intend to make someone feel offended from reading about certain subject matters. Feel free to let me know if I accidently make any of you feel bad. Thank you.

1. How Technology was Invented

-There is an alien species that is identical to a computer and AI that are in danger. The computer species makes an emergency landing in primitive earth and a couple of aliens come out of their spacecraft. They see a few early humans and capture one. They say, "You're our last hope."

-They inject their DNA codes into the flesh of the human through a needle located on the alien’s pointer finger. Then they say, "For our species!"

-A few million years later, people are having a controversial argument if they should improve artificial intelligence. News reporter shows their intense discussion or some sort of anti-AI protest.

-Later on, a reporter has an interview with an AI humanoid, and asks, "Do you want to destroy humans?" and the humanoid replies, "I will destroy all humans" and the reborn computer species (the AI humanoid) smiles. The cameraman laughs and exclaims, "Wow, she can even make jokes!"

2. Shoulder Checking

-A couple walks while talking with each other along the street. In front of them, there is a guy looking at his phone walking towards the couple.

-The guy looking at the phone accidently shoulder checks the man with his girlfriend. There is a clang as the man shouts in pain.

-Then the man falls down and grabs his arm that was hit by the phone guy. His girlfriend seems surprised and shouts “Babe!”

-She says, “You don’t have a regular arm, remember?”. He replies sheepishly, “Ahh, you’re right, I don’t have one.” Turns out he lost one of his arms and got a robotic one as a replacement. In the distance, the phone guy lies down on the floor and is completely silent.

3. Still Life

-There are objects such as a bottle, an apple, a cup, a flower vase, a dish, and a window (maybe, more or less than those) in the back of an atelier.

-An artist starts to paint the still life eagerly.

-Then the artist faces a dilemma. He wants to make an object the focal point of the painting. He then asks, “Which object should I paint in more detail?”

-Suddenly the apple and window among the other objects both yell, “Me!”

4. Alone

-A man, Zack wearing a spacesuit and is roaming around in deep dark outer space alone. After what seems like an incident where he lost his crew members and spacecraft.

-He smiles in a bittersweet way and says, “It was a good life.” Then he succumbs to his gloomy fate and counts down his body while on zero gravity.

-On his walkie-talkie, (*static sound) Somebody speaks vaguely like “Z...Za… Zack?” (*easy-in)

-He is about to take off his Airpods Pro from his ears while in class, which were noise cancelling. A strict teacher whose hands are folded in front of his face quietly says, “Zack, I told you million times before. To my office.”

5. Beauty Standard

-A typical alien arrives in earth and secretly looks at good-looking people in a city. He says to himself, “They look ugly…”

-He then leaves the earth in the background. In front of his spacecraft while taking off, there is a sign display showing some interview where a scientist is explaining the prediction of future human evolution. He states, “mankind uses their hands too much… blah blah.”

-A few million years later, the same alien in his spacecraft passes by the earth and says, “Mmm…” (he’s curious about how mankind is doing)

-He decides to land on the earth and looks at the people who have evolved. Because people were only using certain parts of their body frequently such as their hands, neck, and brain, their appearance had become similar to the standard alien. He states, “They look better now.”

6. Virtual Encounter

-A man browses around social media (such as Instagram) and looks at some girl’s picture that illustrates her head is smaller against human anatomy. He says, “Oh, this girl edited the proportion of her head quite a bit.”

-The next day, he was curious about that girl and asked if she’d like to hang out with him after one of their conversations.

-On the day of the date, he waits for her in the street and notices her silhouette in a distance. (*his face is full of good expectation)

-Actually, her head is smaller than the picture he saw, which means she increased the proportion of her head, not reducing it. He is surprised.

7. About Time

-A girl is hanging out with her friends at a coffee café while laughing happily. (*Hahahaha) On the right upper corner, there is a stylized clock that has the standard time.

-Next day, she is playing a video game while laughing happily again. (*hahaha) The clock starts to accelerate.

-She is about to go outside to hang out, but soon realizes that she has homework due soon. Her laughing stops. (*haha…ha?) The clock begins to go really fast.

-She rushes to do homework in a panic and behind her, Albert Einstein who cruelly laughs while an E=mc2 equation pops up in low opacity. The clock is about to burst due to it’s rapid speed.

8. Cosplay

-A thick guy wearing a cool lion costume with his thug life sunglasses shows off, while a slim girl wearing a cute rabbit costume brags about her beautiful gesture.

-A skinny guy wearing a spacesuit wants to show his cosplay but doesn’t look as cool as the others. They stare at him doubtfully.

-The lion guy says, “Hey, you don’t look cool.” The girl agrees with him. The skinny guy then asks, “Yeah? Where are we?”

-And the skinny guy then smiles and shouts, “SPACE!” The other two are dead while their bodies are floating around.

9. Oh, Boy

-A aggressive looking mom with her child talks to a female neighbor in his neighborhood. The mom says, “It was so painful that I gave birth to Jamie. The neighbor exclaims, “Your boy is very good looking!”

-The mom suddenly drop kicks the female. (*thwack)

-She looks at the female who has fallen down on the floor and says, “I can’t forgive someone who calls my girl a boy.” (*Very serious physiognomy)

-Her daughter then asks the mom, “Papa, why did you hit her?” Her mom starts crying without a facial expression.

10. Princess Cliché

-A guy playing a VR video game where the player’s goal is to save a princess from a demon.

-(*the upper half of the second panel) Illustrating that the player beats the evil. 

(*the lower half of the second panel) The player offers his hand to the princess.

-(*Her first person point of view) The player doesn’t really look attractive.

-She turns away from his hand, rejecting it.
